The Department of Medical Informatics (MI) is part of Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Centre since 1991 and has its roots in research groups with focus on electronic decision support systems, standardisation of terminology and determination of information needs in medical care. Before 1991 the group was located at the University Hospital in Groningen.
Next to knowledge based systems, the group also has a over fifteen year experience in modelling the health care delivery process in it's widest sense. A fine grain type of modelling of almost all sectors of Dutch health care has been completed since the activity first started in 1980.
